Economy Patch Doll Quilt: Circa 1870; Pennsylvania

This Economy Patch doll quilt is an interesting combination of crude and sophisticated. The white diamonds really pop out against the printed fabrics surrounding them. The paisley border fabrics are certainly an elegant choice with smaller segments of the print used for rectangular corner blocks.
The maker seems to have used the fabrics she had on hand and did her best to create a design well scaled to the 16" x 19 1/2" size of the quilt.
Condition is very good; it has been professionally laundered,
Pennsylvania origin; circa 1870 with the red print fabric some 20- 30 years older.
