This early center medallion quilt is a wonderful combination of patterns and materials, The fabric of the central elongated dark brown star is repeated throughout the quilt to carry the eye to all areas. Three frames of various arrangements of triangles surround the innermost block. Sixteen patches offer a nice variation to the triangle theme.
With the exception of the zigzag , all of the other frames are variations of triangles, They are made of a broad variety of printed fabrics from the 1830's. The outer border is a chintz that probably was glazed originally but is no longer. The quilt has no other condition apologies. It measures 96" x 98". It is quilted with diagonal lines and overlapping circles. It was found in Texas but where it was made is unknown.
