This Floating Center Diamond is one of the most iconic of Lancaster Amish quilt patterns. It is beautifully made with fine wools. The quilting patterns check all the boxes of what one would hope to see. The center is quilted with concentric eight point stars encircled by a wreath. The corners are filled in with what are known as a pumpkin seed pattern. The outermost border is stitched with a fine scrolling wreath. The narrow border again is done with pumpkin seeds and a star quilted in each corner. There is a subtle difference in the red used in the diamond and that of the border. The inner color tends toward a wine red and the outer border is a little more tomato-ish. The color combination is as fine as the quilting. Condition is outstanding; made circa 1910.
