The eight pointed stars have octagonal open centers in which are embroidered the names of friends and family. Many of the names are from the O'Malley family including Mother O'Malley. Additional surnames include Bernardi and Martin. Different handwriting indicates that the names were embroidered by the contributor. The stars are made with a nice variety of printed fabrics from the 1930's. The quilt is in excellent, probably unwashed condition. The backing is entirely made of the same solid yellow as used on the front. The quilt can be reversed to this side as the very good quilting shows well on the back. Solid yellow blocks are quilted with floral wreaths. Two different geometric patterns are quilted in the star blocks and a cable pattern for the border. Measurements are 82" x 94"; found in Virginia.
