This Wagon Wheels quilt has the finest quilting imaginable. The white ground is filled with swirling, intersecting feathers. The center white border is also done with a feather pattern flanked by chevrons in both red borders. Quilting of this quality is not often seen but particularly not in a straightforward pattern like this.
The quilt is in excellent, unwashed condition. There is one tiny smudge about the size of a pea that seems to be from the pencil marks outlining the quilting.
Measurements are 90 inches square. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1890.
