HISTORY OF TANE
Tane was founded in 1942 by Sergio and Natalia Leites, French art collectors who fled Paris in World War II. The firm produces home wares as well as jewelry in sterling silver, gold vermeil and 18 karat gold.
In 1974, the firm was taken over by Pedro Leites, son of the founders.
Tane is well known for both its strong, streamlined designs as well as pieces with delicate balls and flexible mesh. The women of the Isla Mujeres continue the tradition of silver bead threading which gives employment to members of the community and keeps a tradition alive.
Most of Tane's pieces are created in their workshops in Mexico City. They have collaborated with various fashion icons, including the well known American, Iris Apfel.
Works by Tane are proudly worn by men and women throughout the world.
