Richly colored Wild Goose Chase quilt (aka Geese in Flight) from the early 19th century. Abutting the triangles gives a terrific up and down movement to the "geese." Streak of Lightning border was meant to indicate the end for the head. Clamshell quilting in outer border; diagonal lines and stylized flowers in the triangles.
Excellent condition; probably New England origin. Cotton front with probably homespun linen back. For unknown reasons, an old button is sewn to the outer border, visible in thumbnail photo.
