This unusual country quilt combines both large and small LeMoyne Stars. The large ones repeat seven printed fabrics with a solid red and the small ones use the same two calico prints throughout. The stars are set on a tiny checked ground that "reads" as gray, a tone one does not often see. Quilting is done with straight and diagonal lines. The quilt is in excellent, unwashed condition with two light spots in the border about the size of a pea. Measurements are 76" x 84". Pennsylvania origin; made circa 1880.
