This Ohio Stars (aka Evening Stars) quilt is rich in pattern and color. In addition to the primary Stars pattern, it is centered with a Mariner's Compass and two Shoo Flies. Stars on a yellow background hug the Compass on both sides. The quilt is in excellent, unwashed condition with a glorious combination of fabrics. The binding is a Trenton tape. Quilting is minimal as it is all about the color and fabrics. Measurements are 106" x 114", ample for a king size bed. The backing is a beautiful print, not used on the front, to which the quilt can be reversed for a whole cloth spread. Made circa 1850; Pennsylvania origin.
