This is a more interesting version of a Rolling Stone than one usually sees. It is a nice combination of fabrics with several different yellow calico prints. The solid blue diagonal grid sets the blocks off very well and the blue strips going out to the borders are an unusual touch. It is interesting that the blue strips on the right side corners of the quilt are much broader than the two on the left. The diagonal blue strips are quilted with cable patterning and herringbones in the border blue strips.
The quilt is in excellent, unwashed condition. The backing is a beautiful red background floral print seen in the last thumbnail.
Measurements are 75" x 89". York County, Pennsylvania origin; made circa 1880.
