Light and dark triangles are scattered throughout this Thousand Pyramids quilt. A subtle but surely intentional detail is that each of the four corner blocks of triangles are done with the same pink calico. It is the same fabric as used for the borders. The quilt is in pristine, unused condition. It is from Mifflin County, Pennsylvania; made circa 1880. The borders are quilted with concentric chevrons. Measurements are 70 inches square. Sewn to the border is a paper label that is difficult to read but I believe it says "This is Alva's Was Grandma Smaktow(?)".
