This is an extremely fine renditionin of a Touching Stars quilt. It is beautifully quilted with wreaths in the center and each of the white squares. The white rectangles have half wreaths. The diamond border is a wonderful feature. It is interesting that the construction of the red stars in the corners is not the same as those in the centers of the four touching stars. The former are done with eight diamonds while the corner stars are squares with eight arms. They look the same but are made differently. The quilt is in excellent, probably unwashed condition. There are several extremely tiny smudges. Measurements are 88" x 90". Maryland origin; made circa 1870's.
