This Variable Stars quilt is made with a rich combination of brown prints from the last quarter of the 19th century. The dark red paisley background combines perfectly with the deep red of the stars. Dark brown highlights the arms of the stars. Green corner blocks add just a bit of variety.
The quilt is in excellent, probably unwashed condition. York County, Pennsylvania origin.
