Double Wedding Ring was one of the most popular patterns of the 1920's and 30's. Almost always, it was done with pastel colors on a white ground.
The Midwest Amish adapted this pattern to their own color sense, often choosing a black ground. The black background incorporated in this quilt is a cotton sateen. This fine example, most likely from Ohio, was done entirely of solid color cottons. The quilting in the border is done with a cable pattern and a variety of geometric patterns were used within the quilt.
Both the pattern and choice of colors make for a very vibrant pattern.
The quilt is in excellent, probably unwashed condition. Measurements are 74" x 86".
