Patterning; scale and color make this Barnraising quilt with Courthouse Steps borders a real knockout. Blocks in the central Barnraising are just 3 inches square. Each log is less than half an inch wide. Blocks are a little larger in the border with the outermost row largest of all. The intense piecing with the solid red and white really makes the quilt "pop".
The front of the quilt is in spotless condition. There is some staining on the back but it does not go through to the front. The quilt measures 75" x 88". It is from Bedford, New York (Westchester County); made circa 1890.
