This embroidered contained wool crazy quilt is a difficult one to describe as it has so many elements. Several moons and small stars evoke a night sky. It has sets of initials as well as numbers and interlocking circles. In addition, abstract shapes invite the imagination to go where it will.
The quilt is in excellent condition. The front is wool. The backing is a blue cotton sateen on which the ties are finished. Measurements are 73 inches square. Made circa 1890.Ohio origin; from the collection of quilt historian, Virginia Gunn.
