Garden Maze and Nine Patch Quilt: Circa 1860; Virginia

This is an unusual combination of the Garden Maze pattern filled with Nine Patches on point. The Maze is a beautiful shade of blue/gray. It is stronger in color than most of the Nine Patches so it seems to come forward while they recede a bit giving a nice three dimensional quality to the pattern. The backing is a beautiful, soft stripe and floral pattern to which the quilt can be reversed for a second, entirely different quilt. Excellent, unwashed condition. Measurements are 93" x 96. Circa 1860; Virginia origin.
