This is a stunning example of an early 20th century quilt as typical of those made in Hawaii. These quilts are usually particular to a family so there is little repitition of patterns. They generally are done with "echo quilting" in which the stitched pattern follows the applique. Most are made of two colors but this example has the addition of light yellow in the center of each bud.
The quilt has been professionally laundered. The front is in excellent condition. There is slight abrasion to areas of the green backing where the quilt may have been placed under the mattress and rubbed against the metal springs. It is not visible on the front.
