Unusual pear shaped sterling silver necklace by Hector Aguilar. The hallmark dates it to the time between 1948 and 1962.
Each link is 1 1/4 inches long and 3/4 inch at its widest. Rivets are both decorative and functional as they allow the links to swivel making it very comfortable to wear. The necklace is 17 1/2 inches long with an invisible clasp that is perfectly integrated into the design of the necklace.
Hector Aguilar is well known as one of the important mid 20th century designers of Mexican silver. Books have been written about him and his work is in permanent museum collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
