This overall Hexagon quilt is bursting with diamonds and hexagons radiating out from the center. The very center hexagon is a fussy cut duet of roses. Bands of the two shapes are made with an exquisite group of printed fabrics from the second quarter of the 19th century with nice use of light and dark. Quilting is done with diagonal lines.
The quilt is in excellent, unwashed condition. The fabrics are strong and totally intact. There are a few smudges that are fairly inconspicuous due to the huge volume of patterning.
Measurements are 70" x 90". Wiscasset, Maine origin; circa 1850.
