This is a finely made version of the Lone Star (aka Star of Bethlehem), one of the most iconic of American quilt patterns.
It is well pieced and quilted. Wreaths are stitched in the white squares. The border is quilted with a feathered vine. Both of these rounded designs are a nice contrast to the sharp geometry of the pieced pattern. The small triangles of the inner border were well chosen to repeat the solid colors of the Star.
The quilt is in excellent, unwashed condition. There are several ever so small light smudges, no larger than a pea. They could be removed with washing but not necessary to my eye. Measurements are 78 inches square; made circa 1880's.
