Beautifully pieced Mariner's Compass quilt from the 1930's - 40's. The maker was not at all intimidated by the challenge of creating thin triangles as she added to the difficult task by using them for the sashing as well. Each triangle ends in a delicate point. The compasses are made of a nice variety of prints from the second quarter of the 20th century. The green background is a lovely soft color that combines well with the pink blocks. The binding is the same pink turned over from the backing. The quilt measures 81" x 102 1/2", ample for a queen or king size bed. It is in pristine, unwashed condition.
