This Nine Patch crib quilt is as crisp as the day it was made some 135 years ago. It is in pristine, unwashed condition. The fabrics are a nice combination of calico prints with an especially unusual material for the border. The two lighter blocks may have been made to indicate that side for the head. One of the squares in the lower right corner is especially dear as it is made of two different fabrics - not quite enough to go around. The backing is a Bars pattern with the same brown print as the off blocks on the front and a striped material. Measurements are 33 inches square. Pennsylvania origin; circa 1880's.
