This is a completely charming , homemade depiction of large and small pairs of animals going aboard Noah's Ark. It is a true piece of folk art. The tigers are cleverly made with a striped fabric and the giraffes with a light brown for their spots. Details on the small animals are extraordinary. The ducks, for instance, have webbed feet. The roosters have red combs and two cats are eager to be in the embrace of a woman. The ark's window has a curtain and a flower pot with a three dimensional blossom. Fabrics appear to be mostly wool. The piece is in a frame measuring 16" x 20 1/2". There is some deterioration on the bottom right of the picture but it does not detract from overall the image. The animals are all intact. Made between 1900 and 1920. Found in upstate New York.
