This Sunburst is especially well pieced and quilted. The red and white triangles come to the sharp points that one likes to see. Quilting is dense and done with a variety of patterns. There are checkerboards in the red circle centers and fine wreaths in the white areas. The border has graceful feathering. The triangle theme is well carried out in the border with variation in the way the corners meet. The quilt has been professionally laundered and it is in superb condition. It is from the collection of the Packwood House Museum in Pennsylvania. Measurements are 76" x 84"> Pennsylvania origin; made circa 1870.
