Sigi Pineda Sterling and Ebony Choker Necklace

Sigi Pineda was one of the movers and shakers of the mid-20th century silver design movement in Mexico. Sigi's work differed from that of most of his contemporaries in that he often used biomorphic shapes.

This necklace was one of Sigi's last pieces as he died in 2009. It combines sterling silver with ebony. The central plaque has silver dots on wood which are reversed on the four stations on the sides. The curve of the necklace makes it difficult  to measure precisely but it is approximately 16 1/2 inches in length. The central design is 3 1/2 inches wide and 1 1/4 inches tall.
