This Hourglass (aka Bowtie) doll quilt is unusually fancy as it is made entirely of silk. The fabrics were most likely dress materials from the 1860's - 70's. The maker cleverly used the same triangles for the border as the body of the quilt. Placing them at right angles, though, gives them a very different appearance.
The quilt is in excellent condition. Measurements are 12 1/2" x 17 3/4".New Hampshire origin; circa 1870.
