This wonderful, open sterling necklace by Betty Cooke looks like a freeform scribble. The neckpiece has an interior diameter of 7 3/4 inches. The top to bottom interior is 7 inches. It is larger than choker size. The necklace moves from flattened surfaces to round. The clasp is a round end that inserts to a tubular opening making it invisible. Although open and airy, the necklace has a strong impact.
Betty Cooke died in 2024 at the age of 100. She continued working until shortly before her death. Cooke is known as one of the important figures in mid century modern design. Her work is in museums throughout the United States.
