Trip Around the World Quilt: Circa 1880; Pennsylvania

This Trip Around the World quilt is done on an unusually small scale. Each block is 3/4" to a side, smaller than postage stamp size. A very small triangle border surrounds the blocks on three sides. The consistent use of red and green squares on the outside of each block combine to create a chain effect going throughout the quilt. The quilt is in pristine, unused condition. It's done with a very nice variety of printed fabrics from the last quarter of the 19th century. It is from Willow Street, Pennsylvania in Lancaster County. Measurements are 65" x 69".
