This Whig Rose Quilt is well quilted and appliqued. It has nine buds emanating from each three layer central flower. The white blocks are nicely stitched with an unusual coiled wreath in the center and hearts; stars and flowers around it. The triple swag border is an elegant frame and has a nice continuation of the yellow centers of the appliqued blocks. There is a small area of faint discoloration visible only in certain lights. The quilt measures 82" x 100", suitable for either a queen or king size bed. Made in the 1860's.
