This unusual broderie perse dresser scarf is professionally mounted on a frame measuring 33" wide and 34" tall. The chintz is so finely appliqued that it appears as though it is printed but it is actually sewn with minuscule stitches. It is difficult to imagine the skill and patience with which it was executed. The border fringe was done with equal delicacy. The piece dates between 1820 and 1830; probably New England origin. Excellent condition.
