Hector Aguilar Sterling Silver Armadillo Bracelet

Regular price$1,475.00

Hector Aguilar made famous the Armadillo design in which he put together in various combinations convex silver plaques, each with a raised circle.
Unlike most examples, in this bracelet the silver plaques do not overlap and are placed on a suede band measuring 1 1/4 inches wide and 6 3/8 inches long. With the inclusion of the buckle, the bracelet has a wearable length of just under 7 inches. The hallmark dates the bracelet to the 1940's.
The simplicity of the design makes this bracelet especially dramatic.
Hector Aguilar's work is in the permanent collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He has been written about extensively by Penny Morrill in her research about Mexican silver.
