Beautiful assembled set of four ebony goblets with sterling dots by silver master, William Spratling. Three dimensional silver balls circle the stem of the goblets. Three of the goblets measure 4 1/2 inches tall. The fourth one is 4 13/16" in height. The top opening is 2 inches. The hallmark dates the goblets to the time from 1956 - 1962. In sum, the set is in excellent condition. The wood part of one is very slightly loose on the stem. Spratling often combined ebony with sterling in his exceptional jewelry and hollow ware designs. His background as an architect is evident in his work. Many books have been written about Spratling. Among others, his work is in the permanent collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
