This is an extremely fine example of Light and Dark Diamonds made of touching triangles. Most of the fabrics are calico with an occasional solid. They are well placed to create a very effective pattern. Solid red and green borders beautifully frame the printed fabrics. The border is quilted with concentric chevrons. The quilt is in pristine, unwashed condition; made circa 1880. It is extremely well crafted. The back is a pieced Bars pattern typical of the quilt's Eastern Pennsylvania origin. Measurements are 83" x 94", large for the period in which it was made.
