This Light and Dark Diamonds quilt is made more interesting because each block is divided into triangles. The black diagonal grid combined with yellow embroidery give the effect of overlapping grids. Initially, this seems to be a simple pattern but the more one looks, the more three dimensionality one finds. The interior of the quilt is made of a variety of wool fabrics. The border is a highly polished cotton with cable quilting. Condition is excellent. Made 1890's; New York State origin. Measurements are 78 inches square. There is a sleeve sewn to the back so the quilt is ready to be hung.
