Strong movement is created in this Straight Furrows Log Cabin quilt by both the colors and the unusual printed fabrics. The center of each block is a solid red outlined with logs of solid black and red prints. The opposing logs are an unusual light fabric with darker diagonal lines giving considerable movement to each block. The front of the quilt is made of wool challis with an unusual cotton print on the back as shown in last thumbnail photo. The quilt has a great deal of drama and lives up to its name of Straight Furrows, a pattern with light and dark diagonal lines. Condition is excellent. There are two small, unobtrusive holes that are visible only with close examination. Measurements are 72" x 74". Pennsylvania origin; made 1870's.
