It's not often that one finds a Star of Bethlehem (aka Lone Star) quilt on a calico ground. The solid red and orange are especially effective in making a strong statement of this dramatic quilt. Quarter stars in the corners as well as the sawtooth border successfully contain this bold pattern.
It is well quilted with small diamonds throughout the body and cable patterning in the border. Each of the diamonds making up the Star is quilted with a circle. Measurements are 84" x 86". Pennsylvania origin; made circa 1880. Condition is excellent with a light smudge in one of the outer yellow triangles but no other condition mentionables.
