Diamond in a Square is the most iconic of Lancaster County Amish quilt patterns. This is a particularly fine example with the rich, jewel tones that are most desirable. The quilt is made of the fine wools used in early Lancaster quilts. The backing is cotton with a small scale print. The quilting is done with a variety of floral designs. The center is a circular wreath with leaves and flowers. Condition is excellent. Measurements are 78 inches square; made circa 1930. Colors are slightly brighter than appear on my monitor.
