Although the known name of this pattern is String Stars, it might better be called Twinkling Stars. The light colors play well against the darks of the irregular pieces that make up the stars. The centers of the stars have pieces that are as small as 1/4" to a side. The date 1898 is stitched in the outer wine color border. This is unusually early for a midWest Amish quilt. The quilt is probably from Ohio. It is made of cotton. The outer border is cable quilted with concentric V's. The rest of the quilt is stitched with small squares and diamonds. While the quilt is in excellent condition, it is not perfect. There are several very, very small nicks. Measurements are 63" x 76".
