This is a finely made example of a Birds in the Air quilt. Both the piecing and quilting are done with great precision. The white triangles are quilted with half wreaths. The border has an undulating feather with wreaths in the corners. The quilt is made entirely of a terra cotta color calico print with a solid white ground. It has been professionally laundered and is in excellent condition. Measurements are 86" x 90". Pennsylvania origin; made circa 1870.
