Blazing Star Quilt: Circa 1860; Pennsylvania

1420497

This star variation quilt comes closest to the patterns known as Blazing Star; Mother's Delight and Northern Lights.
Regardless of the name, the use of two different length diamonds creates a pattern much like a compass.
The quilt is in pristine, unused condition. The green blocks are quilted with feathered wreaths. The border is a floral chintz with the glaze fully intact. The backing is a stunning blue and brown print. The quilt can be reversed to this side to have two very different, equally beautiful bed covers. Measurements are 94" x 98", ample for a queen or king size bed.
Made circa 1860; Pennsylvania origin.
