For reasons unknown to me, this variation of a Baskets quilt pattern is known as Cake Stand. The triangles make for a more complex design than many Basket quilts are.
This example is very well pieced and quilted. The white off blocks are filled with wreaths and elaborate feathering in the border. It is done in a wonderfully soft shade of blue that has just a hint of gray. The quilt has been professionally laundered and is in sparkling condition. Measurements are 79" square; made circa 1920.
