This delicate Variable Stars is very , very finely quilted with closely placed diagonal lines throughout. It has about 12 stitches per inch. The quilting surrounding the triangles of the border are done in a pattern of concentric arcs.
The arms of the Stars are made with a beautiful combination of printed fabrics from the 1830's. The center blocks are the same red/pink printed fabric throughout. The triangles of the border are all a print of very tiny diamonds. The quilt is signed in ink on the back "Eliza Howard". The quilt is in excellent condition. It measures 106" x 108'. One can only imagine the patience and skill needed to create a quilt of this size with such fine quilting and piecing.
