Squares within squares such as this are called an Economy Patch quilt pattern. It is made of a terrific combination of late 19th century printed fabrics. Consistent use of yellow squares on the outer edge make a clever differentiation while actually using the same pattern throughout.The backing is a pink and green calico Bars pattern, often seen in quilts from southeast Pennsylvania.
Measurements are 82" square; circa 1880. Excellent condition.
