This is an early version of a Flying Geese quilt made with beautiful combined, richly colored printed fabrics and a glazed chintz border. It is in excellent, unwashed condition so the chintz fully retains its glaze. The border is quilted with concentric arcs and the body with diamonds.
There are several spots on the reverse but they do not show on the front.
The quilt measures 82" x 86". It is from Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania (Montgomery County); circa 1850.
