Hawaiian Applique Quilt: Circa 1930's

1379237

Hawaiian quilt are sought by collectors for their beauty and rarity.
They are traditionally made of a single applique pattern that fills the entire top. The method by which it is created is the same as paper cutting or scherenschnitte, popular with Pennsylvania Germans. The motif usually reflects local flowers and/or vegetation. They are stitched with echo or contour quilting that follows the applique pattern.
This fine example is done in a stunning shade of blue. It has been professionally laundered and is in pristine condition. Measurements are 78" x 82". Made circa 1930's.
