Unusual as this may seem, the Tuareg silversmiths of Africa partnered together with Hermes to create a line of silver jewelry. This took place in the early 1990's. The Tuaregs are a semi nomadic group living in the countries of northern Africa that include Libya, Algeria, Niger and the Saharan desert. The Tuaregs incorporated their traditional designs with incised geometric patterns. This open center pendant measures 3 1/4 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. It is strung on a flat leather cord but could be changed to a silver chain. The pendant is stamped with the country of origin as Niger but it evidently has all the fashion of Hermes. The necklace is sold with the original Hermes box.
