This Lancaster County Amish Double Nine Patch quilt is in the same pristine condition as when it was made nearly 100 years ago in the 1930's. Clearly, it was treasured and taken out only for the most special of occasions. The color choices are outstanding. A green inner border plays subtly against the purple and blue on either side of it. The consistent use of pink and green nine patch centers of each block really "pop". The four center blocks create an additional pattern of a square formed by joining of small light gray and red blocks next to the pink and green. Quilting is finely done with a wreath in each of the blue blocks and pumpkin seeds throughout the green inner border. There is a floral bouquet with bow in each of the corner blocks. The wide purple outer border is quilted with vines of flowers. The quilt is wool with some possible wool blends. The backing is a cotton print as was often used in Lancaster. Measurements are 80" x 82".
