This classic Lancaster County Amish Bars quilt is made exceptional because of the very fine quilting. and use of color. The bars are done with rows of feathers. The border and corner blocks have baskets with flowers. The stitching is as fine as it comes.
The background is what I call an elephant gray. This muted color recedes while the strong magenta and blue come forward. The quilt is the fine wool used in early Lancaster Amish quilts. The backing is cotton. Condition is excellent. There are a few nicks to the back of the binding but no apologies on the front. Measurements are 79 inches square. Made circa 1910.
