I can count on one hand the number of 19th century quilts I have seen with a matching crib quilt. Never have I seen as stunning a quilt with matching crib in such pristine condition. Both are in the spotless, unwashed condition as when they were made nearly 140 years ago. The full size is quilted with concentric wreaths very similar to the appliqued pattern in addition to stylized flowers. The border is diagonal lines. The swag and tassel borders are great frames for the robust colors and patterns. It is 80 inches square. The crib has more red than the full size with just a few petals of brown. The quilting patterns are very similar to its full size mate. Measurements are 44" x 48". The quilts are from Lebanon County; Pennsylvania; circa 1880's.
